CERB MECHANO, part of the CERB GROUP, was awarded a Gold Medal and a diploma in the national “Casting of the 2025 Year” competition. The distinction was presented by the Scientific and Technical Union (STU) of Mechanical Engineering during the XXXI International Scientific and Technical Conference “Foundry 2026”, held in the city of Pleven. The award-winning product is an aluminum square busbar support (model ShPK-A 120), designed for fixing and insulating rigid busbars (metal conductors) in switchgears, transformer substations, and electrical panels.
This marks the second consecutive recognition for the CERB MECHANO team, following last year’s edition of the forum where the company was honored for the manufacturing of an aluminum current-carrying clamp for primary switching.
The component is engineered to provide reliable mechanical fixing and insulation of rigid aluminum busbars, with its structural design calculated to withstand the dynamic loads generated in the event of short circuits within the grid.
The primary reason for this year’s nomination and subsequent award is a major optimization in the technological process. Due to the specific larger dimensions (120x136x166 mm) and the component’s weight of 2.130 kg, the division transitioned to casting using a self-hardening molding sand mixture based on AlphaSet resins and fine silica sand.
The main practical advantages resulting from this process optimization include:
The product fully complies with the requirements of the Bulgarian State Standards (BDS), European Standards (EN), and international IEC standards. CERB’s power fittings have been manufactured under a certified factory production system since 2005. The latest recertification, issued by “Certification” at NIIS EOOD in December 2025, remains valid until the end of 2028.
“We view our awards as a challenge that drives increased motivation among our colleagues for more diligent and high-quality work, and fosters a readiness to move forward together rooted in shared values and a common direction. This achievement was highly commended by senior executives, our clients, partners, auditors, and the media,” stated Eng. Yaneva.
In addition to the standard series of square busbar supports (ranging in sizes from 40 to 120 mm), the manufacturing facility also executes custom orders for power fittings based on individual client blueprints and specific technical requirements.
